In 2003 none of us had an iPhone, Facebook, Netflix or a Kindle. There was no such thing as Amazon Prime. In fact, Amazon pretty much just sold books. If you wanted to go on a trip, you used a paper map or a fancy GPS device. If you wanted Starbucks, you only had 7,000 worldwide locations to choose from instead the 27,000 we see today.
We were basically one step removed from discovering fire and inventing the wheel.
2003 also happens to be the year that I started in Children’s Ministry at Southland, and, yes, the world has definitely changed in the last fifteen years. No matter much things have changed, though, three things are still the same: Jesus, kids and the Children’s Ministry leaders who love to bring them together.
In an uncertain future, kids need Jesus now more than ever. They need someone to show them that He will be faithful and present in their lives no matter what. By volunteering in Children’s Ministry you can help a child discover God’s unchanging love.
Whether you’re interested in leading a small group of preschool or elementary kids, rocking babies or greeting families at the door, you can make a difference for the future by serving in Children’s Ministry today.
