Every December at the annual congregational meeting, new elder candidates are presented to those in attendance. The Nominating Committee begins the process of current elder evaluation and new elder candidate processing in April of each year. The committee receives names from ministry areas of men who are recommended to be considered to serve in the role of elder. Once the committee determines the number of desired candidates, the process begins to select men from that list to serve in the available spots. After that list is determined, the potential candidates are asked to complete an extensive interview process to evaluate their desire, qualifications and fit for serving in the role of elder. The candidates are presented to the Board of Elders in September, voted on in October and then presented to the Church via our website in November, one month prior to the congregational meeting.
The new elder candidates who will be presented at the December 4 congregational meeting, if approved, will serve a 3-year term beginning in January 2018. To learn more about these candidates, check them out here. Come on out to the Congregational Meeting in the Chapel, Building A, at the Nicholasville Campus on December 4 at 6:30 pm to meet these gentlemen and to vote.
