James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” It may be easy to think this doesn’t apply to your life if you aren’t in a position to foster or adopt a child, but there are so many other ways to help!
Orphan Care Alliance (OCA) is an organization that desires to help the Body of Christ lead the efforts of caring for the fatherless. OCA desires to build a bridge between churches and the state child welfare system. In addition, they also help families by providing short term care for children, life coaching, support groups and through their Gateway Program.
The OCA Gateway Program is designed to help families stay together. Sometimes, help from the body of Christ can prevent families from being separated by meeting practical needs like providing furniture, making house repairs or helping with yard work. Needs are identified by the state and we as the body of Christ have an opportunity to meet those needs!
