We couldn't find what you are looking for. Try searching for something else.
#1 You don’t need a group. Everything is going fine. “I go to church regularly and read my Bible when I can. I’ve got good friends and love my family. Why would I rock the boat?”
#2 It takes time. “I’m already busy. I don’t have time to prepare every week. I might have to clean my house. This would just add another thing to my calendar.”
#3 The enemy would love for you not to. “He would love to keep us apart from each other. He would love for us to think that everything is fine and we don’t have the time.”
Among those and probably a hundred others, we can think of reasons why we shouldn’t lead a Southland Group this Spring or why we think we are unqualified. But when I read the book of Acts I see how God intends for His people to grow and have their needs met by the church.
We are told to love one another, bear one another burdens, hold one another accountable, pray for one another, challenge one another, and support one another. We know that but are we living that? People are hungry for love, purpose and real-life transformation. Are you helping anyone else in that pursuit or has your radar reduced to just yourself?
People are hungry for those things, and I can think of no better structure than a small group where this happens naturally.
The Christian life is not a solo adventure. Other people help us grow and learn. Other people ask hard questions and sharpen us. Other people challenge us to love. Other people make our lives better.
So maybe 2018 can be different. Maybe God is calling you to step out and create a space where this can happen. Leading a small group is simple. Think about what you love to do and how you could bring others into it with you for a few weeks. Cultivate a context where people will be challenged and supported in applying what they are learning with God. Never forget the blessing you will be to others and the blessing you'll receive from leading.
