At Southland, we believe that no one has more influence over a child’s faith than the parents/guardians who raise them. That’s why we want to do everything we can as a church to support you in this journey. We are here to champion you, resource you, and cheer you on as you raise your kids to follow Jesus!
That’s why at Southland we provide a Parent Dedication service, to invite you, as the parent or guardian, to commit to raising your children to know Christ and to live according to His Word. It’s also a chance for the church to affirm our commitment to love and support you as you lead your children.
What child dedication means
We do not believe Parent Dedication has any bearing on a child’s salvation, but it is an opportunity for you to make Jesus the number one priority in your family’s life. Parents/guardians who wish to have their children dedicated at Southland will be asked to complete an Application for Participation, Parent Dedication Service. Application does not guarantee participation but is the first step in the process. Once you have completed your application, you will be contacted within a week with more information about your next step.
To have your child dedicated at Southland:
Do I have to be a Church Partner?
You do not have to be a church Partner (the term we use for church membership) to participate in a Parent Dedication service at Southland Christian Church, but we do encourage parents/guardians to strongly consider partnership. Why? In dedicating your child to God, you are stating that you are willing to partner with God and the church to raise your child in cooperation with God’s intentions. To partner with any church, a parent/guardian would be wise to decide if he or she agrees with its beliefs and vision, so they can be all-in in their partnership with the church. When you choose to become a Partner at Southland, you are stating that you agree with Southland’s beliefs and values, and that you want Southland to be your home church. For more information on official partnership, visit the partnership page.
