Listen up volunteers! There will be lots of new things at Prom this year. For starters, there will be an Outdoor Team, an Indoor Team, and a Health Team. In addition, we will not be pairing volunteers with Prommers. Instead, there will be groups of Volunteer Teams in each area to provide Prommers with an awesome experience. Ready to go? Select the best volunteer position for you below!

OUTDOOR TEAM

Greeters

Welcome all Prommers to the party and show them where to get checked in. Once everyone has checked in, you will help clean up the check in area. (Age 12+ or accompanied by an adult.)

Food / Water

Help Prommers get food and water, clear tables, and assist with clean up after dinner. (Age 12+ or accompanied by an adult.)

Games

On this team, you’ll be outside helping Prommers enjoy the games and activities. Once the Prommers move inside, you will help clean up the outside area. (Age 12+ or accompanied by an adult.)

Floaters

Be available outside to help Prommers with any questions or needs that arise. Once the Prommers move inside, you will help clean up the outside area. (Age 12+ or accompanied by an adult.)

INDOOR TEAM

Dance Party

As a member of this team, you will spend the evening dancing with our guests and making sure no one is left out. Once the party is over, you will help get the auditorium ready for Sunday services. (Age 18+)

Respite

We need volunteers to give extra care to caregivers as they relax and eat. When the caregivers head home for the evening, you will clean up the space to be ready for Sunday services.(Age 18+)

Water

Distribute water to thirsty prommers enjoying the indoor dance party. This team will be responsible for restocking water and cleaning up afterward.

Health Team

Medical

We need licensed healthcare professionals to serve guests with medical needs. Volunteers must be Physicians, EMTs, Paramedics, Registered Nurses (RN), Physicians Assistants, or Nurse Practitioners.

Mens Restroom

We need home health care professionals and certified nursing assistants to assist guests with their restroom needs. This position pays $100 for the evening. (Age 18+ and must have training as a home health care professional or a certified nursing assistant.)

Lady Restroom

We need home health care professionals and certified nursing assistants to assist guests with their restroom needs. This position pays $100 for the evening. (Age 18+ and must have training as a home health care professional or a certified nursing assistant.)

Parking

This team oversees the traffic flow of guests and volunteers as they arrive and directs them to drop-off and parking areas. We’ll outfit you with reflective vests and light wands! (Age 16+)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here's a few answers to our most common questions.

What is my arrival time?

Arrival times vary depending on your volunteer role. You’ll receive an email closer to prom with your role specific details.

Where do I enter and park for the event?

Our parking team will direct you from the New Circle Road or Richmond Road entrances to the appropriate parking lot when you come on site.

What can I bring into the event?

There will not be a place to store any belongings in the building so please lock everything securely in your car.

How do I get a t-shirt?

We will be giving each volunteer a t-shirt to wear on Prom night at training night on Monday, September 10. When you fill out your registration form, please be sure to fill out your t-shirt size.

What if I want to connect with a specific prommer?

We will host the prom in two parts: an Outdoor Game Party and an Indoor Dance Party. Rather than matching volunteers with specific prommers, all volunteers will help engage all prommers in either the Outdoor Games and Food, or by cutting a rug with them at the Indoor Dance Party! Volunteer teams will serve in each area to provide every prommer with an awesome Jesus Prom experience.

What if my child isn’t old enough to volunteer?

If your child isn’t old enough to volunteer on their own, they are more than welcome to accompany you. We would prefer one on one supervision for any child under 16 years old. But keep in mind, the focus of this night is on Jesus and the Prommers. Please consider whether you will be able to focus on those priorities with your child alongside you before you make the decision to bring them with you.

Going to arrive late / need to cancel?

If you discover you won’t be able to serve that night, please let us know by emailing jesusprom@southland.church.

Does Southland have other, similar programs which happen throughout the year?

We have tons of great opportunities to serve around here. Learn more at http://southland.church/volunteer.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

If this FAQ list does not address your question, please email jesusprom@southland.church.
