Forgiving the Craziness
Most families experience a daily dose of sibling rivalry. Joseph’s brothers took their competitive ways to new heights when they sold their younger brother into slavery. In this message we will focus on how to forgive those family members that hurt us in seemingly unforgivable ways.
What we've been up to
Restored Marriage / May 21
We recently heard from an out-of-town couple who were ready to end their marriage. Weekly watchers of SouthlandOnline.tv, they saw Date Night advertised. In a last-ditch effort to save their marriage, they made the hour-and-a-half drive to Lexington for the event. They received the lessons they learned that night and allowed God to use it to heal them and their marriage. The months since have been the best in their 20 years of marriage!
Local Outreach- Extending Hope / May 21
Your willingness as a church to give of your time and finances have helped a lot of people over the last year! In the span of one year, Helping Through Him served 2,784 people, gave 277 couches to families and over 300 people are now sleeping on a mattress. Also, as a church we donated and distributed 600 bags of food each week to kids in Central Kentucky during the 2016/2017 school year. Thank you for helping to extend hope!
The Power of Prayer / May 18
Texting for prayer has been a huge support for a family this year. Starting in January, we received a prayer text for someone’s sister-in-law. She has three children under the age of four, and they found a tumor on her brain. After some tests, they found that she had stage four brain cancer. In May, after another brain scan and a surgery, there were no signs of cancer! The doctors were astonished and didn’t expect this type of cancer to go away , but the family said they knew who the true healer is. We’re thanking God along with them for His faithful response in their time of need for healing and restoration!
Dollar Club Goes to Haiti / April 21
By giving an extra dollar, we were able to help places like House of Hope, which is part of a hospital that cares for children with HIV and other illnesses. Often, the children live here full time because their parents abandon them. A local school received much needed supplies as well as a church and a physical therapy clinic. Many families were helped as well. Some had taken in orphans to care for as their own and two brothers were left to take care of their younger siblings without their parents. Others were able to pay for school tuition, get supplies for homes and businesses and obtain much needed medicine. The hungry and the elderly were fed and supplies were provided in hopes for creating new job opportunities. Your willingness to give, is going to help many people and an entire town in Haiti feel hopeful and loved.
Serving College Students / April 9
We hosted another Free Feast, our church-wide potluck for college students. So many people volunteered their time, food and skill as we provided college students at 608 a good home-cooked meal (all for free). The students loved the incredible dishes and desserts at Free Feast!
