Mark Perraut’s Bio
I have been at SOUTHLAND all my life and on staff since December 1, 2004.
I am the Global Impact Pastor. I am responsible for developing initiatives with partners on the mission field and engaging SOUTHLAND folks in going and serving with our partners.
The thing I love the most about being Global Outreach Director is meeting new people in new cultures. I have been to many countries and met so many wonderful people.
I love living in Kentucky where you experience all four seasons. Winter is my favorite while Fall is the prettiest. The October Glory Red Maples are just the best!
My most memorable travel experience was when I visited the Democratic Republic of Congo. No place on earth has experienced the pain and suffering these people have. The book, Heart of Darkness is well named. I pray everyday for these people. It was such a blessing to be able to go there and learn.
The farthest from home I have ever been is Meulaboh, Indonesia which is 9,516 miles away. After the tsunami of 2004, the people in Meulaboh had to literally uncover their lives. Many lost their whole family. Today, the people there still struggle but have moved on.
Happiness for me is my family. I have 2 kids, a daughter-in-law, one granddaughter and my mother. My wife and I have been married 38 years. She has the largest mansion in heaven. The best family member is our “fuzzy kid” Pixie (dog).
The thing I admire most about SOUTHLAND is, all the people. Many times I am asked why SOUTHLAND grew so large. First, God’s will. Second, literally it’s people. SOUTHLAND has always had the greatest and best people in the whole wide world. Remember, I’ve been here almost since the start.
It might surprise you to know, I have been to places in the world during the war times on a mission trip. It was a step of faith and I never had any fear. God is good all the time and protected me!
My greatest fear is that the world will run out of potatoes! I love mashed potatoes. There are a lot of people that are afraid of international travel. Not me! I love going and building relationships with folks everywhere.
AHHH! we can't find them!
