Care Ministry & Southland Students
Welcome to Southland! We are so glad you are checking out our Georgetown Campus. My name is Ian Schweitzer. I oversee our Care Ministry and Southland Students in Georgetown. My wife, Hannah, and I grew up in Nicholasville, KY going to Southland and then moved here in 2016 to be a part of this campus and a growing church!
Southland launched our Georgetown Campus in September 2015. Though we are a young campus we are made up of a variety of groups. We have life-long Southland attendees and people just discovering church when they see us on the bypass. There are retirees, empty nesters, families with kids, young professionals, and college students. We have a lot of Toyota employees, teachers, artists, and people who love horses! No matter what your background or demographic is, you are welcome here!
When we first started we met in Lemons Mill Elementary. You read that right, an elementary school! For the first four years of ministry we were a “portable church” loading everything into the school and then back out each weekend. It wasn't the easiest way to meet each week but it established a very strong core group of leaders and volunteers who wanted to do everything we could to unleash a revolution of love in Georgetown.
After more than four years of portable church we got to enter our permanent home that is literally right across the parking lot from the school that served us so well. We had our first weekend of worship in our new church building on December 1st of 2019 and have been able to utilize it for so much more ministry than ever before, including Christmas Share the Joy, Mealpack, and holding our weekly events like Southland Students and Serve the City. We can’t wait to see how God uses our Church to reach more lost people for God’s Kingdom!
