BIG: Hallelujah

1 minute read

Revelation 19:10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God.” (NLT)

We’ll end this week where we started: considering the object of our worship. Thinking on this passage in Revelation we’ve been studying this week, imagine what John has just witnessed—this incredible heavenly vision. He has seen a picture of all God’s people worshipping together. He has heard the roar of their voices praising God, an overpowering sound. And in a moment when he is overwhelmed by the grandiosity of these visions, he falls down to worship… an angel? The angel quickly corrects him and points his gaze back to God. It’s tempting to focus our worship on the wrong object!

On Sundays, we have incredible worship bands and vocalists who lead our hearts to focus on Jesus. They’d be the first to tell you that they want all the focus, all the attention, and all the praise to go to God alone. He is the One worthy of our praise! He has redeemed us, forgiven our sins, and conquered our greatest enemy, death. He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us, and He is coming for His people one day soon. He owes us nothing, and yet He gave us everything. His name is Jesus, and He alone is worthy of our praise!

Each day this week, I’m going to link a worship song. Take a few minutes to listen and turn your eyes upon Jesus!
