Name Dropping: El Shaddai
By: Michael Mayeaux
1 minute read

John 15:4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. (NLT)

Consider this question for a minute: How different would your life look if you fully embraced God’s almighty power?

Hold that thought for a minute as we turn a corner. Now, you need to know I am a tremendous college football fan. I might lose some friends for admitting this but, specifically, I am an LSU Football fan... GEAUX TIGERS! I know my Wildcat friends can relate when I say that the SEC is the powerhouse of college football. There is NO better conference for football than the Southeastern Conference. Recently, two schools, Oklahoma and Texas, decided to jump ship from their respective conference and come aboard the power train. My guess is that they realized the age–old saying, “Can’t beat ‘em? Join ‘em,” is actually true!

Old sayings aside, what is certainly true is that alliances make us stronger. An alliance in sports might be powerful in a sense, but what about alliance with God? Can you think of anyone or anything more powerful to align with than the Almighty King of the universe? Go ahead and give it a shot; it shouldn’t take you long to realize there is nothing and no one more powerful to align with than God! Nothing! Not only is there nothing more powerful to align with than God, but this God wants to align with you!

Jesus invites His followers to remain in Him, and promises that He will remain in them. Jesus knows that, apart from Him, we can do nothing. Maybe it’s time for us to leave our respective comfort zones, and partner with God Almighty. He is always waiting for us.

Take time in prayer today to tell God about your desire to align with Him. To join Him in what He wants to do in your life, your family, your workplace, your church, your community. Ask Him to be working in you to shape you into the kind of person who will obediently follow His leadership, moment by moment, every day.
