Luke 2:15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (NIV)

Translation: “Now, THIS I’ve gotta see!”

I am often struck by the sheer magnitude of what I read in Scripture. I’m pretty certain that if I saw an angel (let alone a whole host of them) walking down the street or balancing on a cloud, I would pass right out! And once I regained consciousness, my life would never be the same.

It’s easy, friends, to be so ensconced in life, so wrapped up in the day-to-day ordinary-ness, so busy with schedules and calendars, that we miss the miraculous. When was the last time you felt the overwhelming weightiness of God Almighty explode in your heart? When was the last time tears of joy (liquid love, as my sweet Little Mama called it) flowed from your eyes as you witnessed the miraculous presence of God’s Spirit? When did it become okay to not simply fall to our knees because the Lord of Hosts showed up? Oh, friends, let us never grow immune to moments of glory! May the experience of God’s presence not just take us to our knees, but face down, nose to the carpet!

In Jesus, Almighty God wrapped himself in the veil of flesh, descended to Earth, and ran as fast as His little legs would carry him to the Cross. Just to redeem you from your sin-induced separation from Him.

Does that knowledge overwhelm your heart? Soak that up this week. And then celebrate your socks off!
