Luke 2:13-15 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (NLT)

Isn’t it so much fun when we have reason to celebrate, to throw a party? When our gratitude overflows and leads us to want to share our blessing with others, it is an expression of God’s heart—and I believe it brings joy to the God who created us and loves to give good gifts to His kids.

When our heart-posture is in a good place, we also turn to the giver of the gift and express our thanks in the form of prayer, worship, and the ready recognition that every good gift comes from Him. (Check out James 1:17.) So the celebration of birthdays, graduations, weddings, and milestone anniversaries serve as a chance to express thankfulness to God for His gifts and to the people in our lives for the gift they are to us. We turn our blessings outward to others in the form of invitation to celebration.

As we do this, I can almost picture God, our Good Father, watching with a smile on His face, bursting with joy as He watches His kids connecting with one another and even talking about the blessing He is. It may escape our notice at times, but when we speak well of God, isn’t it cool to know He’s present and listening?

And it blesses God as our Father to know…

  • We genuinely appreciate His provision.
  • We’re growing to be more like Him in the way we care for others.
  • We desire to bring a smile to His face by bringing joy to others.

And it can bless us to know that…

  • God likes it for us to experience joy—He’s the source of it, after all.
  • What we enjoy and what we feel matters to God.
  • God even delights in dazzling us at times.

God’s blessing and provision is like a gift that keeps on giving. At each step along the way, all of us—God, others, and ourselves—experience that blessing in the giving, the sharing, and the celebration.

Isn’t it cool that we can give God joy simply by sharing His blessings with others? We can even express worship through the way our heart spills out with gratitude and leads us to share His blessings with others. Will you share God’s goodness and kindness with someone today? Remember, it never escapes the notice of our Good Father!
