Psalm 1:6 For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction. (NLT)

My sister and I are both well into our 30s, with kids. Yet our parents are adamant about buying us a AAA subscription every year. My mom worries about us on the road—she wants us to have access to help, to be able to get out of a jam when there is an emergency. Because of this membership, I’ve had several batteries changed and windshields repaired when I was in a pinch, stuck in a parking lot or on the side of the road somewhere.

As much as I appreciate my parents’ care and concern for my family, I appreciate even more the fact that the Lord is watching over our paths. He knows all the dangers around the bend, and He isn’t sending me (or you) on a journey all on our own. He’s watching over us and keeping us. He has given us safe boundaries and guardrails through His statutes and commands. He has given us the engine of the Holy Spirit, which empowers us to live the Christian life, and the map of His Word to navigate this life. Wherever you are in the journey today, no matter what bumpy road you may be on, be encouraged to know that the Lord is watching over your path! If you belong to Jesus, you can be sure He is watching over your path!

Pray to the One who is able to meet you at your point of need—wherever you happen to be. Ask Him to help you navigate this season, this day, even this moment in a way that encourages and strengthens you to meet the challenges in front of you.
