To the Ends of the Earth: Serving the Forgotten — Friday
Proverbs 11:25
The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. (NLT)
About once daily, I find myself opening the news app on my phone and scrolling through. I mostly read the headlines, but now and then, I select an article to peruse. Headlines are written to capture our attention. One thing I’ve noticed is that there are figures in our culture and world that draw our attention with just the mention of their name. One such name is Warren Buffet. Ask anyone remotely involved in finance, and few people command more attention and respect than he does. When he speaks, people listen, and when he’s quoted, people click to read.
In the Bible, there is a collection of literature referred to as wisdom literature. It is a collection of writings capturing the very wisdom of God Himself. If we lean in when Warren Buffet speaks, we should fall all over ourselves to listen to God speak. One of the books categorized as wisdom literature is the book of Proverbs, and tucked into the middle of its 11th chapter is a truism worth reflecting on as we wrap up this week.
Lifeline Christian Mission embodies Proverbs 11:25, which says that when we refresh others, we will be refreshed. They refresh people in all kinds of countries and all kinds of ways. They have seen God at work in relief, development, and restoration and have joined Him in this work. As we head into the weekend, let's find ways to refresh others and enjoy it as we are refreshed as well.
Friday’s Reflection
Pray that God will lead you today or this weekend to someone who needs to be refreshed.
