A word from your campus pastor
"What do I do now?"
If your family is like mine, you’ve prayed for margin and begged for a break from the rush. You were tired of letting your calendar be your boss. The pressure of baseball games, school assignments, family events, and home projects was mounting. Yet now, we are all finding ourselves with more margin than we ever hoped to have. If you’re like me, you’ve been asking yourself this question a lot lately… “What do I do?”
In John 12, Jesus comes into Bethany on his way to Jerusalem. He stops to spend time with Lazarus (who He just raised from the dead), Mary, and Martha. In his final days before the crucifixion, you’d think that Jesus would’ve been very busy - healing as many sick people as he could, preaching a bunch of sermons, feeding the masses. But instead, we find Jesus simply spending time with friends. Before the biggest crisis Jesus’ disciples had ever known, we find them doing three things that I think can help us know how to spend our unexpected margin. Martha served. Lazarus reclined with Jesus. Mary worshipped.
I know this week may have brought bad news for you. Maybe someone you loved is a medical worker, and you’re concerned for them. It could be that you or someone you love lost their job this week. Maybe you have a friend or family member who is waiting for a COVID-19 test result. No matter what we're facing right now, we can all do these three things: Worship, Pray, and Serve!
Even though we are all experiencing this crisis differently, we're in it together! If I can pray for you, please let me know. I'll see you Sunday online!
