Sunday

What we're studying & applying in our daily lives...

Scott Nickell | Feb 16, 2020

Our marriages are an opportunity to hold one another in high esteem in a world that demonstrates dishonor at every turn. How we treat the people we date and marry is an indicator of how much we love God.

A word from your campus pastor

I was sitting at Starbucks yesterday morning, watching the rain again (I didn't realize Kentucky was in the Pacific Northwest). As the drops fell on the pavement, I noticed how each tiny raindrop created a ripple effect of concentric circles as it fell into the puddle on the ground. One small drop has a big ripple effect!

In 2014, you may remember Coach Cal made a “tweak” that turned a struggling Kentucky basketball team around and helped the Cats reach the Final Four. What was this momentous “tweak” that led to an incredible run? Simple. Calipari just coached Andrew Harrison to focus more on passing than on shooting. Just one more pass. It doesn’t sound like much, but it was enough to restore confidence and give the #8 seed Cats the momentum they needed to reach the Championship game!

Oftentimes in life, we feel like we need a massive overhaul in an area of our life. However, God often works through the tweaks - simple obedience to whatever next step He puts in front of us. Signing up to mentor a student at a local school, joining a group, serving in Children’s Ministry, signing up for a mission trip, reading the Bible, or giving God the first 10% of our finances. These are all tiny steps that can completely change the narrative of our lives.

If you're feeling stuck right now, maybe you’re just one tweak away from experiencing God in a new and life-giving way! Let me know if I can help you take your next step!
