What we're studying & applying in our daily lives...
A word from your campus pastor
It’s interesting how quickly a hero can be brought to the public’s eye. One simple act of bravery to save someone from destruction warrants an interview on the evening news. I’ve noticed it’s usually not someone who gets up everyday, puts on their cape and says, “today I’m going to be a (super) hero!” It’s usually circumstances they happen to be in at the right time, and they choose to do the right thing.
Today, there are many heroes among us! Many that are choosing each day to get up and help someone push against evil and destruction -- our doctors and nurses are a fantastic example of this. I would also add how grateful I am to those that continue to do their job and put their health at risk to provide food and other necessary services. So please know how grateful we are as a church for you and all you do! We want to be a community of people behind you and praying for you!
I sent a friend of mine in the thick of this crisis this Scripture the other day. It wasn’t a stretch to exchange “COVID-19” for “enemy.” Here’s what it says…
“When you go out to fight your enemies and you face horses and chariots and an army greater than your own, do not be afraid. The Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you! When you prepare for battle, the priest must come forward to speak to the troops. He will say to them, ‘Listen to me, all you men of Israel! Do not be afraid as you go out to fight your enemies today! Do not lose heart or panic or tremble before them. For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!’ Deuteronomy 20:1-4
I pray that we are encouraged today, particularly when we find ourselves in a moment of panic. The Lord WILL give us victory over this and He is fighting for us! Thank you to everyone who chose to get up and fight this enemy today, in any fashion. We love you.
Now, go out and be a hero in your own way to someone and unleash a revolution of love! Invite them to check out our Easter service online this weekend too! I'll "see" you there!
