A word from your campus pastor
“Safety is my middle name,” is a joke I often use when I’m working with a friend on a car repair. It’s funny (to me at least) because I’ve had several accidents with power tools and have even lost a finger because of it. In reality, safety is very important to me as I’m sure it is to you! We all seek to feel and be safe especially when it comes to our health, family, friends, house, workplace, church and checkbooks.
I spent the day at Kings Island this weekend with my daughter and we rode (almost) all of the rollercoasters! I enjoy them because it “feels” unsafe but you “know” it is safe. I ride a motorcycle and I know there’s a sense of danger but I’m a very safe rider and take precautions. So, in our lives there’s this balance of taking risks but being safe.
We serve a God that keeps us safe no matter what we go through in life! Even in the midst of tragedy, unrest and even death, He is a safe place that we can go! Ultimately, he has provided a safe place for us to spend eternity. Psalm 3:5 says, “I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me.” I pray that encourages you this week. Be safe.
