My wife practically had to drag me to Southland in 1993 when I first started attending since I grew up going to churches with around 30 people in attendance… on Easter. I joined Southland’s Staff in 2001. I’ve served in a variety of roles here, managing our bookstore for several years, then forming Life Groups and helping people make other connections for Biblical Community for seven years after that. Currently, as a Care Pastor on our Nicholasville Campus Team, I get to serve with an amazing team of individuals who take great care of people around here. I love the fact that I get to work alongside, learn from, serve, care for, and encourage people at Southland. The people I get to work with, the volunteers I get to serve with, and the people I get to meet and serve in a variety of ways make this place a blessing to me and my family. There are so many amazing examples of Jesus, so many bright reflections of Christ at Southland that I’ve been shaped and molded by significantly during my time serving here. There are dozens of peers and mentors I can look to on a daily basis, both from staff and volunteers. I love God and I love my family and there’s no one I’d rather spend more time with. A few random tidbits from my life: I was once mistaken for the lead singer of R.E.M. by someone who actually knew him, I went to middle-school with Shaquille O’Neal, and I performed with a grammy-nominated band during the summer of 1993. A couple things that might surprise you to know about me: I grew up overseas, I love to play the guitar and sing, I taught myself to fix cars, I love to get out in the woods to run, and, finally, I speak German and English, a good bit of Latin-American Spanish, but can also get by in French, Bulgarian, and Turkish.
