Fostering and adopting is a unique journey with unique financial and relational steps along the way. Whether you are just beginning to explore fostering/adoption or are already awaiting a placement, Southland is committed to walking alongside you. We offer financial assistance, guidance, and encouragement at every stage - from initial background checks to final placement - so that cost or red tape never stands between a child and a loving home.

DECIDING YOUR PATH
The adoption journey begins with discerning which path is right for your family - Domestic, International, or Foster-to-Adopt. Each option has its own unique timeline, legal steps, and requirements.
We are here to answer your early questions, provide guidance, and connect you with experienced staff, partner organizations, and families who can share insights from their own experiences.

HOME STUDY
Once you discern your adoption path, the next step is completing a home study and selecting a reputable agency. In this early phase, expenses add up quickly with background checks, fingerprinting, official document collection, home study fees, and initial agency costs.
We want to help cover these early administrative expenses so you can take your first steps with confidence.

MATCHING & PLACEMENT
Once your home study is complete, you enter the active waiting phase to be matched and receive placement. The bulk of adoption costs occur during this step - typically with about 50% due at match and 50% due at placement.
Alongside traditional grants and other resources, our priority is to help bridge this financial gap and remove barriers so you can bring your child home.
