TODAY’S VERSE

Philippians 4:2

I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord. (ESV)

When my husband and I started talking about having a family, I envisioned having two children… two sons to be exact. I pictured them doing everything together: wearing matching clothes, liking all the same things, and being best friends forever. God blessed me with those two little boys, who are now 9 and 6 years old.

The vision I had of my sons getting along perfectly didn’t exactly go as planned. My boys are completely different in every way possible. My oldest has brown hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. My youngest has black hair, brown eyes, and olive skin. They are best friends for about 5 minutes… and then mortal enemies. They fuss, fight, disagree, and I spend the majority of my days praying we don’t end up in the ER (because my second-born has no idea what limits are!).

But at the end of the day, they wouldn’t know what to do without each other. They hate being away from each other, they pray for each other, they tell each other goodnight literally four thousand times, they stick up for each other. Why? Because they have a deep relationship rooted in love

Just like my boys, God never intended for any of us to walk through life alone. From the very beginning, He created us for relationship — with Him and with one another. Throughout Scripture, we see the importance of community, accountability, and mutual support among believers.

In Philippians 4:2-3, Paul addresses a disagreement between two faithful women in the church. Rather than ignoring the conflict, he encourages reconciliation because unity within the body of Christ matters deeply. Even mature believers can experience misunderstandings and disagreements, but God's desire is that we work toward peace and restoration.

Relationships are not always easy. They require patience, humility, forgiveness, and grace. Through fellow believers, God often provides encouragement during difficult seasons, wisdom when we need direction, and strength when our faith feels weak.

In today's world, many people are surrounded by acquaintances yet still feel lonely. Social connections can be plentiful while meaningful relationships remain scarce. Isolation has a way of draining joy, while genuine connection nourishes it. God designed the Church to be more than a place we attend; it is a family where we belong, grow, and serve together.

APPLICATION

PRAYER

Father, thank You for creating me to live in community with others. Help me build meaningful relationships that honor You. Give me the humility to seek unity, the courage to pursue reconciliation, and the wisdom to encourage those around me. Use me to strengthen the body of Christ and reflect Your love in my relationships. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
