Seasons: Fall — Wednesday

Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. (NLT)

One of my favorite shows when I was a kid was the cartoon Transformers. I can still remember the opening theme song: “Transformers, more than meets the eye. Transformers, robots in disguise.” These Autobots heroically intervened against the menacing evil of the Decepticons. The half-human/half-machine superheroes made for such compelling entertainment. Seeing something transform drastically is cool; seeing someone transform drastically is amazing.

We see in the Bible a man named Saul. While Saul did all he could to persecute and destroy the church, God radically transformed him through an encounter with Jesus in a vision. Paul ended up writing a large portion of the New Testament, and his church planting efforts are still felt around the world today, some 2,000 years removed.

Charles Colson once operated in the highest office in the land as a right-hand man to then President of the United States, Richard Nixon. Colson’s nefarious actions during that time ultimately led to his imprisonment, but preceding his trip to prison, he had a transformational encounter with Jesus that changed everything. As God would have it work out, Colson started a ministry called Prison Fellowship, which has discipled untold thousands into a relationship with Jesus while facing their hardest days. His transformational change led to a legacy that is felt all across our country today in many shapes and forms.

When it comes to God’s work in our life, there is always “more than meets the eye!” (Cheesy, I know, but I had to say it!)

Wednesday’s Reflection

What transformational change is on the horizon for you? If you don’t see it, spend time today asking God what it is.
