Winter Fire – Prince of Peace - Friday

Today’s Verse

Revelation 21:4

He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. (NLT)

Have you ever found yourself in a moment of pain or uncertainty, wondering how you’ll get through it? About a year ago, my fiancé shared something with me after listening to a sermon and it has stuck with me ever since. I won't lie, I probably think about this a couple times each week. She said, “I know I can make it through anything that happens in this life because I hold on to the reality of Heaven.”

The baby born in Bethlehem brought peace not only to our past—rebuilding our relationship with God—but also to our present, granting us peace in the midst of trials. But even more beautifully, He brought us peace for the future. This is peace grounded in the reality of Heaven—where all the brokenness of this world will be healed. Though we long for peace in this life, we know that we won’t experience perfect peace until we are with Him. One day, our tears—those outward expressions of our grief and pain—will be wiped away, never to return. On that day, we will experience a peace that never ends.

But it’s not just that we know where we’re going—it’s that we know what we have to look forward to. There will be no more suffering, no more injustice, no more sorrow. The pain of this world will dissolve like mist in the sun. The Prince of Peace will rule, and His kingdom will be marked by perfect love and perfect justice. No more broken families. No more hunger or loneliness. No more cancer or war. Only peace—a peace for all eternity.

If I’m being honest, I don’t know how anyone keeps going without this hope. For those of us who know Jesus, this hope is not just a distant dream; it’s a living, breathing reality that gives us peace today. The weight of life’s struggles would feel unbearable without the confidence that what we see now will not last forever. So, when we face trials, we don’t do so without hope. We do so knowing that no matter how difficult life gets, this is not the end of the story. The reality of Heaven is our anchor in the midst of hard times and it can help give us peace in the storm.

REFLECTION

What about the reality of Heaven anchors you? Is it the eternal healing of someone you dearly love? Is it to be reunited with someone who is already experiencing the reality of Heaven? Is it the truth that all the horrors of the world will be no more? What is it about the reality of Heaven that can help you make it through today?

Read Isaiah 65:17-25 & Revelation 21:1-8. Take some time to think of the truth of the reality of Heaven and consider how it can help you make it through today.
