Weekend Scripture: Matthew 25

Bringing our first and best back to God is about way more than money, but it's not about less.

Scott walks us through Matthew 25 as we finish out our series on Money. Jesus is first and He went first. He provided the ultimate sacrifice which means that our sacrifices aren’t for our salvation, they are a response to our salvation. We are called and commanded as those who have been blessed to be a blessing to others. We are faithful because Jesus is faithful. So let us give our first and best, bringing back to the feet of Jesus what He has entrusted to us because He is worthy of it all.

Matthew 15 and Mark 7 | The story of the Canaanite woman is about a woman who asks Jesus to heal her daughter, and he does. Jesus’ response to her proves that God constantly enters new territory and breaks long-held and man-made boundaries. This message will remind us that everyone who trusts Jesus has a seat at his table.

Matthew 20:29-34; Mark 1:40-42 | When we love someone who is hurting, it isn’t enough to express sympathy; in reality, that changes nothing. Empathy is a better approach. Empathy empowers compassion to move us to action. This message will remind us that we’re called to identify and understand other’s pain and serve them compassionately.

Mark 12:12-17 | The religious leaders of Jesus' day tried to trap him saying something he shouldn't say. Jesus refused to fall prey to their polarizing options. Instead, he brilliantly found a middle ground in his response giving us a blueprint for how to navigate difficult conversations. Loving one option doesn't always infer that we hate the other option. Sometimes our choices aren't between right and wrong, but between better and best. In this sermon, we will learn how to find the middle ground with the goal of uniting people in a divided world.

Mark 10:32-45 | Jesus put the needs of others above his own needs giving us a blueprint for how to live in a joyful and humble way. In this sermon we will explore the pride that threatens our wellbeing and the humility we need to overcome it.
