It is possible to have Jesus right in front of you and miss Him because of lies.
This week, Scott jumped back into John 8 as we finished up our series on Truth. Jesus has made it clear that we have a big problem: our slavery to sin. But the good news is that He has come to set us free. Who do you know that needs to know Jesus?

Because of Jesus, you can be set free from the penalty of sin. Because of Jesus, you can be set free from the practice of sin. Because of Jesus, you can be set free from the power of sin.
This Sunday, we launched our series on Truth with a look into John 8. Scott challenged us to abide in Christ and expand our understanding of biblical truth. After all, the best way to recognize lies is to be intimately acquainted with the truth.

Gossip vs. Gospel
Romans 10:9-17 | The Gospel is the good news of who Jesus is and what He has done. When we use our words to spread and share this good news beautiful things happen! Instead of choosing to spread gossip we can spread the gospel.
The Foundation — The Bible Is True
II Timothy 3:16-17 | In the construction world, a foundation has to be solid before anything can be built on it. The same is true with the Christian faith. Everything we believe is grounded in the reality that every word in the Bible is true because its author is trustworthy.
Calm Before The Storm
Matthew 7:24-29 | A well-prepared life must be constructed on a true foundation. There are a lot of ideas, philosophies, and worldviews available to us, but only one will truly hold up when pain, suffering, and adversity comes our way.
Relativism
John 8:31-32; 18:37-38 | How can the statement “there is no truth” be true? It’s self-defeating and contradictory. When we fail to acknowledge truth we can’t make sense of the world and we lose a firm foundation to live on. When Jesus tells us that the truth will set us free He’s making a promise that if we anchor our lives in Him we will experience the freedom we long for.
