Build a Strong Family - Tuesday

Today’s Verse

Matthew 4:4

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (NIV)

Yesterday we discussed the importance of consistently attending church as a key principle to growing a strong family spiritually. Today, we’ll focus on the second principle, having a healthy spiritual diet.

In today’s verse, Jesus reminds us that we need more than food to survive; we also require spiritual nourishment through God's Word

When asked about the importance of reading the Bible, the Reverend Billy Graham said, “Today, many people keep the Bible a closed book. One reason is because we don’t realize how much we need it. If I suggested that you stop eating for a few months, you’d ignore me—and rightly so. We need food in order to survive, and without food, we’ll grow weak and eventually die. The Bible is not an option; it is a necessity. You cannot grow spiritually strong without it. Yet many Christians are spiritually starved and weak because they ignore the spiritual ‘food’ God has provided in the Bible. The Bible is not an option; it is a necessity. You cannot grow spiritually strong without it. You see, God wants you to grow in your faith—and one of the ways that happens is through reading God’s Word and letting its truth sink deeply into our hearts and minds. Through the Bible, we learn how God wants us to live, and we learn too what He has done to save us.”

What a beautiful way to describe the diet we need to grow stronger and closer to our God!

REFLECTION
