Build a Strong Family - Wednesday
Today’s Verse
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (NIV)
Today, we continue discussing the principles of building a spiritually strong family. When athletes work to grow stronger, they will surround themselves with the supportive community of coaches, trainers, and teammates. The same approach can be applied to a family. We all could use a supportive community! Instead of coaches, trainers, and teammates, we can have prayer warriors, teachers, and friends.
At Southland, we believe that life happens best in community. I know personally that a church family can encourage, support, and love through all of life’s trials and celebrations. I think we would all agree that no one is immune to a life crisis... Isn’t it a blessing to have a team of prayer warriors ready and able to care for and comfort us when we face a big career decision, lose a loved one, or experience health issues? My Southland family has been a consistent presence, cheering me on from the sideline and offering guidance and encouragement along the way.
Church is also a place where you can make lifelong friends with like-minded people. Remember, Jesus didn’t do life alone. He spent time with other believers, and we’re called to follow His example.
To kids, having a church family is an extra blessing. In addition to their family and friends, they’ll have a team of people who volunteer to teach them about Jesus, encourage them, and watch out for them. Participating in a children’s program also gives them confidence to know they’re not alone in their beliefs and are surrounded by others who think like them.
Every Wednesday, middle school and high school students meet for community and a deeper connection with Jesus. Through these weekly services, small group discussions, and special events, Southland Students aims to create spaces to form genuine friendships and help students build a solid spiritual foundation.
But we haven’t forgotten about the grown-ups! Southland Groups help people connect, develop a sense of community, and grow closer to Jesus throughout the week.
