Build a Strong Future - Monday
Today’s Verse
John 14:1
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. (NIV)
I like to build things. I’m not very good at it, but I enjoy it. A few years ago, we were trying to create more space in our little house and found that it was going to be very expensive to build an addition. As I pondered our situation, my garage came to mind and I called my wife, “What if we remodel the garage? The structure is already there.” I have never heard my wife say “Yes!!” so fast in my life. It kind of scared me. We began the design process, acquired financing, and started construction. We finished this simple six-week project in only nine months. In the end, we had a beautiful space that we affectionately called “The Cottage”.
Our Cottage is wonderful. It’s already been used for so many things that we would have never imagined. And none of it would have been possible if there wasn’t already a foundation in place. That’s what I want to talk to you about today, your foundation. I don’t know where you stand in your relationship with Jesus, but can I tell you it is the most important relationship you will ever have—and deciding to follow Him is the most important decision you will ever make. Jesus changes the entire trajectory of your life, and your relationship with Him determines where you spend eternity, with Jesus or without Him. This is so important. He came to earth, as a human, lived the perfect life, and was crucified on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin and mine. Three days later, He conquered death and rose again. If there has ever been a King worth following, it is Jesus.
To build a strong future, you have to have a strong foundation. That foundation is a relationship with Jesus. If you are a long-time follower of Jesus, that’s great. If you are just trying to figure it out, can I say from my own experience that it is the best decision you’ll ever make.
