Let’s Dance: Leading My Prayers – Thursday

Matthew 6:9-13
“Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” (ESV)

I am really grateful to work alongside some of the most prayerful individuals I have ever encountered. One of those people is my friend Peter. This past year, Peter has been challenging our team to not just pray often but to pray together. Almost every day for the past three months, he has created a standing calendar invite for our team to pray with each other. While the topics of prayer have ranged from praying for our church to praying for our students, our constant prayer is the one that Jesus prayed: on earth as it is in heaven

Praying in solitude allows us to go to God in full vulnerability and full honesty. We can bring Him our fears, doubts, and worries, and He meets us there. Praying in community allows us to go to God with our prayers for His people. Praying for His will to be done, praying for lost and broken people to know Him and surrender their lives to Him, praying for each other, and praying for more of His kingdom on earth not only gives us awareness of how much we need Him, but it also gives us awareness of how He is moving and working.

Thursday’s Reflection

Find a few people to pray with this week. It can be people in your small group or even your family. Take some time together to specifically pray for some of Southland’s ministry partners and church plants. You can find a list of our partners at southland.church/partners. Print out a photo (or two!) and place it somewhere you can see it every day, and pray for that ministry. You can even pray something as simple as, “In Bloc Ministries as it is in Heaven…in Christian Student Fellowship as it is in Heaven.”
