To the Ends of the Earth: Serving the Forgotten — Wednesday

Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (ESV)

TED Talks came out in 2006 and rapidly gained popularity. This well-presented format of communicating powerful ideas in a brief, compelling, and simple way captured audiences of millions online. When brilliant minds unpack paradigm-shifting thoughts in a way that audiences can grasp and grapple with, it is a powerful thing.

Jesus was the greatest educator in the history of the world. His teachings and ideas have reverberated for a couple of thousand years and shaped individual lives and societies in ways we will never fully comprehend. He educated audiences about the Kingdom of Heaven. He came to seek and save the lost, and His means was teaching them about their Father in Heaven. He explained on many occasions about His Father’s love for them and how His love can and should shape their lives. He taught real people real things about the world they lived in and the world that is still to come.

Education is very close to the heart of Jesus' followers. Our friends at Lifeline Christian Mission teach children about Jesus, and additionally, they teach children how to read, write, and function in the world. They empower and equip children in little pockets across the globe so that they can live full and sustaining lives.

Not all of us are educators by vocation, but we all have a responsibility to teach. Jesus gave us that mandate in His Great Commission above. So, since we are commissioned to teach people about Jesus, how are we doing?

Wednesday’s Reflection

Who are you teaching about Jesus? If you aren't, is it because of fear, lack of understanding, complacency, or another barrier? Ask God today for help in fulfilling His commission in your life.
