get involved
If you are a deer hunter and want to help us feed hungry children through our Backpack Program, please take your harvested deer to one of these meat processors.
Kentucky Fish & Wildlife will cover the cost of the processing and Hunters for the Hungry will ensure the meat is delivered to our campuses so we can place it in backpacks and distribute it to local schools.
During rifle season, please call processors ahead of time to ensure they have space.
What Is the Backpack Program?
The purpose and mission of the Backpack Program is simple: Feed Kids and Support Families in our Community.
Families contribute to the Backpack Program each and every week and it makes a huge difference for kids in central Kentucky. With our unique partnerships with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife and Hunters for the Hungry conservationists and hunters have a unique and important opportunity to add nutritional variety to each backpack of food we give to kids.
We appreciate your willingness to participate in this venture where good conservation leads to a good outcome for children across the Commonwealth.
